Astro and The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) join forces for Astro Kem Badminton to develop and nurture young Malaysians to be the next badminton champions. 

Launched in 2012, Astro Kem Badminton (AKB) is a grassroots development programme to discover young badminton talents and uplift the standards of local sport.

To date, AKB has seen and trained over 21,300 kids, identifying promising players and providing coaching and mentorship to nurture them towards becoming professional athletes.

Currently, 40 national players in Akademi Badminton Malaysia is an AKB alumni, including Malaysia’s top women and mixed doubles player – Go Pei Kee. The Astro Kem Badminton alumni that have shone in the international scene are Wan Arif (2021 The Austrian Open | 2021 Hellas International | 2023 Nantes International | 2023 National Championship), Jacky Kok (2022 Swedish Open Champion and 2022 Asia Championship), Myisha Mohd Khairul (2022 Dutch International Series Champion), Tan Zhing Yi (Uber Cup), Chan Wen Tse (Sri Lanka International Challenge) and many more.

Astro continues to champion the development of badminton as a unifying force in our country.
